September 2010 Banned Books

Using the list of Banned books from ALA we displayed personal copies of books that have been challenged or banned. We used pockets to hide a story of the banning or challenge and decorated slips with a cutout of a banned stamp.

This month we decided on an interactive display . It was as easy as a u tube account and a playlist, played on a loop. We also made our own power point and added it to the list.

Instructions for turning a powerpoint into a downloadable file for You tube are here. http://hubpages.com/hub/PowerPoint-on-Youtube

No special software needed just Paint, Microsoft power Point and Windows Movie Maker , standard programs found on most PC's . I challenge you to make your own !

To make this more interesting we had a drawing Quiz .

stories inside the pocket
Our sign reads "Bet you havent read just one ", a play on a well known catch phrase from TV. Do you know it?

We had two prizes, a Rittenberg Law Library shirt or $5 in photocopies. We had 5 entries and 2 winners, it wasn't as popular as we thought it would be, maybe we need better prizes.
